Selecting the tab in Text Styles panel, selecting OK when creating a new Text Style or even random crashes. Love the program, going through tutorials and preparing my Publisher palette for future work.Īs another user experiencing these crashes noted, working in Text Styles appears to be the culprit. Sorry to report, but I, too, am having crashes occurring with Affinity Publisher 1.7.1. Going to need some help to figure this one out. Since this was after a fresh install, I'm stumped. My gut tells me I may be doing something wrong, but with other users experiencing unexpected crashes, perhaps a helping hand is needed. End result so far is that I've performed two installations of Affinity Publisher and both have crashed repeatedly. When I was satisfied, I hit Okay and Publisher crashed. It didn't populate with the particulars I had set for Book, but I selected the same particulars (font, size, etc.). I then went to create a new Paragraph Style, based that on Book. For the new group, selected font, size, leading, first line indent and other particulars. Without selecting or creating a text box, I went to Text Styles and first created a new Group (called Book). Created a new document and went to master pages to begin setup. Fearing a continuance of problems, went ahead and uninstalled Publisher, emptied trash and performed a reinstall from the Affinity site. First, went back to original document and the page numbering I inserted on the master pages has disappeared. Just want to set Publisher up normally as I have with Affinity Photo (downloaded from the App Store) and hopefully delete this separate user account that has been preventing the crashes from happening.

How would it work to download from the App Store? I do have my Product Key and all the particulars, but don't want to be charged additional money. In this regard, I am also wondering if I should (or could) be using the App Store version, although since I originally downloaded from the Affinity website, the App Store is listing Publisher as a purchase. No matter, at this point I am working towards updating my OS to Catalina and considering what to do about the user accounts, beta builds and basically consolidating everything back to a normal setup. If you are confused reading this, believe me, I have been confused on my end ten-fold. The beta builds were suggested prior to the suggestion of setting up a separate user account. This workaround has me setting up a separate user account and using a beta build (1.7.3.475).

Currently, I have achieved a workaround to the crashes (generally regarded as a unique, user-oriented issue rather than the software itself). Going through other areas of this support forum (beta, bugs, etc.), one can find my numerous posts regarding consistent crashes. When I purchased Publisher on original release day, it was only available through the Affinity website as a download. I now see that Affinity Publisher is available on the App Store. However, for reasons still not uncovered, Publisher has had serious and consistent crash problems since the beginning. Soooo happy to be using Publisher and not having to boot to an external drive running Mavericks just to get to Adobe InDesign 5.5. That said, in hindsight, the same trick could have worked with Maverick too using the recovery partition.Apologize for the confusing post below, but this has been a confusing introduction to Publisher.

Hence straight to El Capitan which supports the security code (via the login ).

PS: The above work for me on a Macbook Pro 2009 and Maverick but I could not reinstall Maverick due to an itunes login to old and incompatible with the security code that Apple uses now.

Don't try to install and see the "temporary unavailable" bug and then try the Help/Safari trick. Click on the "install OS X" item, follow instructions and it should NOT ask you for itunes anymore and therefore not timeout with "This item is temporarily unavailable. (You might need to go the top menu to exit Safari). Then type, log in with your itunes credentials. Select the "Get HELP Online" item which will open Safari. Try another USB port and wait 10 sec again. If it does not detect it after 10 sec and you only see your hard-drive.
